Range Examiner

FAQ

Range Examiner is a live-fire range journal. These answers cover what it records, what it will not do, and how to get help.

Do I need Shot Examiner or Hunt Examiner?

No. Range Examiner records live fire on its own. The same Examiner account and gear locker work in Shot Examiner and Hunt Examiner if you use those apps. A Range Examiner subscription is separate from theirs.

What does a session actually record?

The rifle or bow you selected, the load, distance, target, impacts you entered, wind you set at the bench, and any weather the phone could read. Photograph the target when you retrieve it. The review shows group size and point of impact in inches and MOA when the target size and distance are known.

How exact is a tap?

A tap through optics is an estimate. A scaled, confirmed photo is photo-measured. The app labels which is which and does not invent shot order from a finished target. You can undo a shot, move a mark, or place holes on the photo by hand.

Can I shoot the group first and record it later?

Yes. Tap each impact while you shoot, or fire the group and enter it after. Photograph the target when you walk downrange. You do not have to fill out a form between rounds.

Does it work without cell service?

Yes. Sessions and photos stay on the phone. They sync when you are signed in and connected. You can finish a range trip with no service and reconcile later.

Does Range Examiner replace a live zero?

No. It is a range journal. It does not replace a live zero, a confirmed sight mark, or a safe firing line. You are responsible for safe firearm handling.

Can I use a rifle and a bow?

Yes. The gear locker stores the rifle or bow, optic, and ammunition you actually shot. A session keeps a snapshot of that setup, so editing the locker later does not rewrite what you fired.

What is free, and what is Pro?

Free includes the shared Examiner account and gear locker, live shots and quick groups, the review of the session you just finished, and target photos you place by hand. Pro adds hole detection on a photograph, trends across comparable sessions, and share cards. Annual is $29.99. Monthly is $2.99 in the app, unless the App Store price in your region differs. There is no free trial.

Where do I subscribe or cancel?

In the iOS app, through Apple. This website does not sell the subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings. Canceling does not delete the account. Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription.

How does weather and location work?

If you allow location while a session is running, Range Examiner can record temperature, pressure, humidity, elevation, and station wind, then write density altitude when those readings are credible. The wind control on the firing line is the wind at your bench. Location is not placed on a public page.

What is Examiner Shot Profile?

ESP is the shared record across Shot Examiner, Range Examiner, and Hunt Examiner. Sign in once. The gear locker is the same wherever you open it. Range Examiner writes a short live-fire summary into that profile: distances, group measures, sample size, and dates. Target photos stay in Range Examiner.

When does it suggest practice in Shot Examiner?

When Shot Examiner is installed, a review can open a practice scenario on the same account if the group center is more than 0.4 MOA left or right, or the wind you entered is 5 mph or more. The handoff carries the yardage, wind speed, and clock direction. You do not need Shot Examiner to keep a range record.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the account from Settings in the app. That removes the account and the range records stored for it. Write to privacy@shotexaminer.com if you need help. Range Examiner is a name of Quote Rocket LLC.

How do I get help?

Write to privacy@shotexaminer.com. Support, privacy questions, and deletion requests all go to that address.
